Rob Guillory, a comic book artist from Lafayette will lead the workshops. He was here last year also, as some of you may remember. Check out Rob’s blog.

“Born, raised and currently based in Lafayette, LA, Rob Guillory’s artwork has been published by major companies as Image Comics, Random House, Dark Horse Comics and Ape Entertainment. Rob’s art is easily recognizable for its dynamic, high-energy visual style and crisp story-telling, making him a standout talent among comic professionals. Currently, Rob is working on a breakthrough new ongoing comic series for Image Comics called CHEW, debuting in June, 2009.”

Comic Book Workshop

The comic making workshop we had on Tuesday at East Regional and St. Rose were great. Rob Guillory was incredibly friendly and generous with his knowledge and time with the teens. He started by letting everyone thumb through his original drawings and sketches while he told us a little about the comic industry… very informative for future comic makers. He demonstrated how you can manipulate the drawings in Photoshop to color and change them. Then he showed us his drawing process and lead some drawing exercises. We are now his newest biggest fans.
If you missed the workshop, don’t despair. We really want to ask him back again!
