Tween Diary of a Wimpy Kid Party

Hey Tweens, join us at the East Regional Library in Destrehan on Tuesday November 22 at 6 p.m. for a party to celebrate the release of the next book in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series by Jeff Kinney, Cabin Fever.  Gear up for our trivia contest and other fun games based on the antics of Greg Heffley and his friends.

No waiting for a computer today, because Ms. Jessy has reserved the computer lab just for you!  After school, bring your homework to East Regional Library in Destrehan.   We will show you how to use the free online tutoring site HomeworkLA.org and other resources for helping you get those assignments done.  Bring a snack and a covered drink if you like!

Clear your library fines!

Clear your library fines and do some good!  November is Food for Fines month.  Celebrate Children’s Book Week by donating a non-perishable food item to clear your fines. Fines can be for overdue items or for accrued overdue charges. Please donate 1 item for up to $1.00 in fines. This doesn’t apply to lost items.

All food received will be donated to the St. Charles Parish Food Bank. They especially need small bags of rice, canned fruit, small cans of milk, cereals, small jars of jelly/jam, any kind of dried beans, grits and small cans of meats.

We will collect food November 1 – 30.

Teen Read Week!

Hey Hey! It’s Teen Read Week, and we have a lot going on for teens and tweens!  Drop by the Norco Branch to receive a free book this week and watch “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants” (PG) on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.!  Play Monster Stunt Racer 4X4 for Wii at West Regional Library on Thursday at 6:00 p.m.  Tuesday at East Regional Library at 4:00 p.m. join us for “Chatter and Splatter” — paint a canvas while drinking punch and hanging with your friends!  Or, just for tweens, drop by East Regional Library on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. to make an awesome Fibonacci book.  Hahnville Branch will be showing “The Monster Squad” (PG-13) on Thursday at 3:00 p.m.  St. Rose Branch will have an Art Attack on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. and a Game Daze on Friday at 3:00 p.m.

Halloween Luminary Craft

Hey Tweens, come on over to the East Regional Library in Destrehan at 6 p.m. tomorrow, Thursday, October 6th. We will be making luminaries for Halloween. We will have a lot of fun creating these awesome decorations.
